I've returned. Both from Sacramento, and from the nearly year long hiatus I took from this journal. I feel somewhat refreshed.
I think like before, I'll keep this as a journal of events for my current role playing games, namely the ones I am running. For anyone interested in the further details of this escapade, feel free to comment or e-mail or something.
Exalted has, up until a week or so ago, dominated my role playing time. I had been running a couple of games, and been playing in a few games. Currently, things have switched around. My poor friend Rob was running a rather interesting murder mystery for Exalted via online chat, but had sadly failed to keep things interesting. The consensus of the group, himself included, was that the game be abandoned, and that we start fresh. Thus, the mantle was once again passed on to me, and I now run that game.
Then, there is the face to face real life game I had going. We are getting a few new players soon, and we've had to switch things around. I thought that this would free me from one of my games,so that someone else would run, but as it turns out they want me to run this one as well. Should be fun though.
So far I have 2 Exalted games to run, but that is still an improvement over the 3 that I had been running before, and the 2 I was playing in. Despite my bitching, one might easily surmise that I love my Exalted with all my heart.
Second edition Exalted is out now, and a great deal of speculation, trepidation, and experimentation are going on. I have yet to test it out, but I extend the invitation to all of my friends to get give it a try, with me at the helm. Running Exalted is nigh second nature to me. I just need to polish up on my face to face interaction. Don't ever let anyone tell you that online gaming isn't good, because it offers a huge realm of interaction that is usually rather pacified in real life circumstances. Call it training wheels for the socially impaired gamer.
Also, I am going to try and push Heavy Gear. Here are a few links for those of you heathens who don't know of it's awesomeness.

Or you could ask me nicely and I could cough up a few resources. *Ahem*
Anyhow, Heavy Gear is a really really great game that I think too few people know about. It needs a lot of support, and I plan to try and pimp it at a few cons coming up. With luck, I'll get more word out about it. With luck, I'll get to test my GM cunning enough to make an impression at the cons. If you are interested in any aspect of the game, feel free to ask. I have books to lend out and such.
Also starting to think about getting involved in a Star Wars D20 game. Stupid Episode 3... and Kotor... and Clone Wars cartoon... I think I'll be lurking in Star Wars forums now...
On the subject, I'd be interested to know if anyone could recommend a good set of Star Wars novels to start in on. |
